Frequently Asked Questions
What types of video content do you produce?
From corporate videos to digital stories, event highlights, podcasts and social media content, we deliver a broad range of video production services. What sets us apart is the experience behind the vision. Led by David Cook, an experienced storyteller working across community productions through to broadcast and film, New Dream Productions brings cinematic craftsmanship, cultural insight and a team of skilled storytellers to every production.
Do you specialise in First Nations storytelling?
Absolutely. As a First Nations-owned and led production company, we have a strong foundation in cultural storytelling, working closely with communities to share stories with authenticity and respect. Our experience also extends across corporate, government and commercial productions, bringing the same level of care, creativity and storytelling expertise to every project.
Can you manage the entire production process?
Yes. We offer end-to-end production services, from initial concept development and creative planning through to filming, editing, sound design, colour grading and final delivery to spec. Our team manages every stage of the process, providing a streamlined experience with consistent creative oversight and quality from start to finish.
As a First Nations storyteller, David Cook brings a personal commitment to cultural care and authenticity, particularly in post-production, where the decisions made in the edit are just as important as how the story is captured.
How much does video production cost?
Every production is different, and understanding what goes into creating your video is an important part of establishing a realistic budget.
While filming is often the most visible part of production, it's only one stage of the process. For example, a two-day shoot may require five or more days of post-production, depending on the deliverables. Even a single day of filming will typically require a minimum of two days of editing.
Several factors influence the overall cost of a production:
- Creative development and planning: The time required to develop the concept, coordinate logistics and prepare for filming.
- Crew and equipment: The number of camera operators, cameras, lighting and sound requirements. For example, if your reference video features two camera angles, achieving a similar result may require a two-camera setup.
- Location and travel: Where the production takes place, travel requirements, accommodation and any location-related expenses.
- Additional production elements: Drone footage, professional voiceovers, original music composition or licensed music.
- Deliverables: The number and length of videos you require directly affect the cost. For example, a five-minute video takes substantially more time to edit than a three-minute video. If you also need shorter social media versions, different formats or captions, these require additional editing time and need to be included in the quote.
- Revisions: We include two rounds of revisions per video deliverable. Additional revisions or changes outside the agreed scope are quoted separately.
We encourage clients to be as specific as possible about their objectives, reference videos, filming requirements and final deliverables. The more clarity we have from the outset, the more accurately we can scope the production and provide a clear, comprehensive quote that accounts for the work involved.
If you have an allocated budget, we encourage you to share it with us. We can work collaboratively to tailor a production package that fits within your budget, identifying where to prioritise resources to achieve the best possible outcome.
At New Dream Productions, we don't operate on hourly rates. Our pricing reflects the value of our services as a whole, including the experience of our team, our creative and technical expertise, the quality of our work and the cultural understanding and care we bring to the stories entrusted to us. We consider not only what it takes to produce the content, but also its purpose, intended audience and the impact it is designed to achieve.
We understand that budgets matter and work collaboratively to find the right approach within the available resources. However, if the lowest price is the primary measure when selecting a production partner, we may not be the right fit. Our focus is on building partnerships with clients who recognise the value of experience, quality and thoughtful storytelling, and the difference these make to the final result.
Where do you provide your services?
New Dream Productions provides video production, digital storytelling and photography services nationwide across Australia.
Do you offer photography alongside video production?
Yes. We offer professional photography alongside our video production services, including corporate portraits, event photography, behind-the-scenes coverage, promotional imagery and campaign photography. Combining photography and video within the same production allows us to capture a broader range of content, maintain a consistent visual style and maximise the value of your shoot.
Photography is also available as a standalone service. Visit our dedicated Photography page to explore our work and learn more about what we offer.
Do you provide raw footage and project files?
Yes. Raw footage and project files can be provided upon request for an additional fee. These are not included in our standard production packages and must be discussed and quoted separately, ideally before production begins. Additional costs account for the preparation, organisation, storage and transfer of these files.
Can you provide fast-turnaround video and photography for events?
Yes. We offer priority turnaround options for both video and photography, including same-day and next-day delivery where production requirements allow. These services incur an additional fee, as expedited delivery requires dedicated post-production resources and adjustments to our existing workflow. If you have a specific deadline, please let us know during the quoting stage so we can plan accordingly and include priority delivery costs in your quote.
